Endodontic materials for root canal treatment

In this category, we have gathered tools, materials, and instruments for endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) for dentists.

When is root canal treatment necessary?

Root canal treatment becomes necessary when the decay is so advanced that conservative treatment or filling is no longer possible, or when the pulp is inflamed or dead.

What is the purpose of root canal treatment?

The purpose of endodontic treatment is to save the natural tooth. This procedure, which is currently painless, is performed under local anesthesia and allows the diseased tooth to be preserved.

How is root canal treatment performed?

As part of endodontic treatment, the dentist mechanically prepares the root canal with a special file, cleans it, removes damaged tissue, and then rinses it with an antibacterial solution. The canal orifice of the tooth to be treated should be prepared or treated all the way to the root apex to eliminate the inflammatory state and achieve the best root canal treatment results. Paper points are then used to dry the canal or place a medication. ISO paper points are particularly absorbent and dry the root canal of blood, saliva, and secretions.

In order to complete the endodontic treatment, root filling and canal filling up to the root apex are performed in dentistry. Good biocompatibility and good moisture sealing make gutta-percha a proven dental material. Therefore, gutta-percha can also be used for temporary closure of a cavity or implant screw.

The gutta-percha needed for the procedure is injected along with the root filling placed in the cleaned and dried root canal, including the root apex. Then, using an X-ray, it is checked whether the filling and filling material have been supplemented up to the root apex and whether the tooth is completely sealed. If a chronic inflammatory process around the root apex is already advanced and root canal treatment with filling no longer guarantees tooth preservation, surgical root-end resection is performed. Root-end resection is also performed under local anesthesia.
