Dental silicone addition (A-silicone) impression compounds are materials used in dental prosthetics to accurately reproduce the shape of a patient's teeth to make a prosthesis, bridge, or crown.
Silicone addition impression masses are characterized by very good hydrophilic properties, which means that they penetrate well into the interdental spaces and accurately reproduce the shape of teeth and gums. They are also flexible and elastic, allowing easy and painless removal from the mouth after the impression is reflected.
Addition silicone impression compounds are divided into different classes depending on their properties, such as setting time, consistency and tear strength. The most frequently used are putty, light-body and heavy-body masses, which differ in consistency and method of application.
