Usage: Eugenol is commonly used as a liquid for making pastes for filling root canals (Endomethasone, Caryosan), as well as for materials used for temporary filling of cavities and pastes for indirect pulp capping (Caryosan, zinc oxide). It can also be used to decontaminate root canals during pulp gangrene treatment as well as for impregnation of dentine with silver nitrate.

Eugenol is the main component of clove oil (Caryophylli oleum), it has a strong bactericidal and anesthetic effect. Difficult to dissolve in water.
